Marangu Route

The Marangu Route — often called the “Coca-Cola Route” — is the most established path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its hut accommodations and gradual slopes, it offers a classic and structured Kilimanjaro experience.

Unlike other routes, Marangu provides dormitory-style mountain huts instead of camping, making it a preferred option for climbers seeking added comfort along the way. The ascent follows a steady trail through lush rainforest, moorlands, and alpine desert before the final summit push.

The summit attempt begins at midnight, climbing steadily toward Uhuru Peak. Reaching the roof of Africa at sunrise — standing at 5,895 meters above sea level — is a moment of triumph and reflection.

Marangu is ideal for climbers who:

  • Prefer sleeping in huts rather than tents
  • Want a direct and well-established route
  • Are first-time high-altitude trekkers
  • Seek a slightly less technical ascent

While considered one of the more straightforward routes, Kilimanjaro always demands preparation, pacing, and determination.

This is not just a mountain climb.
It is a personal milestone etched in altitude and courage.
